Software Assisted Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) Conferencing

Patient safety is always a priority for any healthcare setting. Researchers at Nationwide Children’s Hospital developed the Software Assisted Morbidity and Mortality Conferencing platform that was adopted from a previous paper-managed process. The web-application improves patient safety through analyses of safety events and near-real time display of patient information to support hospital-wide reporting and escalation. The system standardizes the classification of these events by event severity, preventability, individual failures and system failures. Additionally, the platform reduces data entry time through its integration with Clarity, an Epic reporting database.
