Genetic Testing for Assessment of Skin Cancer Risk in Patients with Hypothyroidism

This technique for genetic testing uses polygenic risk scores as a measure of susceptibility to skin cancers for individuals with hypothyroidism. Diagnosis of hypothyroidism has been correlated with increased risk of skin cancer, while genetic susceptibility to hypothyroidism has been correlated with decreased risk of skin cancer. Using polygenic testing, subjects with top 10% polygenic risk scores have neutral to decreased risk, while subjects with bottom 10% scores have elevated risks of skin cancer.
