The Roadmap to Navigating Clinical Research: Your Survival Guide to Compliant Study Management

Onboarding clinical research professionals can often be a daunting task. Boot camps and crash courses are expensive, site administrators have little time to develop homegrown programs and most rely on one-way learning platforms with little opportunity to ensure competence before study staff are expected to assume study management responsibilities. This may lead to challenges in study compliance and staff retention due to not feeling adequately trained. Our hope is that by offering what we have learned to others in a train the trainer concept, separated into 6 modules that it will enable sites to utilize this program to effectively onboard new staff across their organization.

Clinical research is the vehicle through which new diagnostics, therapeutics and prevention strategies are developed in the medical field. Researchers at Nationwide Children’s have designed an unmatched clinical research training program that provides an in-depth foundation in multi-site study management. This new training program incorporates different evaluation and exercise tool to maximize understanding and applicability for all learning styles.

There are multiple clinical research training programs developed by industry leaders which are costly (up to $5000 per person), require travel and assume one way learning is sufficient for successful study management. Our program has pediatric specific content, multiple evaluation and exercise tools built in to maximize understanding and applicability for all learning sites.

A robust clinical research training program, methodology not only for NCH but for external clients as well that they can purchase the license and then utilize to train clinical research professionals at their institution. Included with the license are two hours of consulting time along with additional consulting opportunities in the areas of multi-site study management, leading teams, infrastructure models and establishing and implementing a clinical research unit compliance program.
