Pediatric Patient Tracking During Mass Casualty Event for Family ReunificationIn the case of mass casualty events, unidentified patients will be given an AirTag, which will track the patient’s location and allow the tracker to receive identifying patient details upon arrival to the hospital. Mass casualty events provide unique considerations for hospitals, especially when children arrive without personal identification, without a parent/family member, or are unaware or unable to provide their personal details such as their name, date of birth, or address. To promote safe family reunification, the unidentified patient will be assigned a blue-tooth enabled tracking device and assessed on identifying features by hospital staff during triage. As parents arrive to the hospital after the event, the care team will access identifying features of pediatric patients to match them with patients and allow parents and guardians to be reunited with their children rapidly. |
