This medical simulator accurately reflects the interactions between the Berlin Heart Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) and a pediatric patient. The simulator was created with a Berlin Heart VAD, a cough assist machine and a variety of valves and connectors. This device is smaller, self-contained, and more portable than other existing devices. Intended for educational and training purposes, this device supports both staff and pediatric patients in cardiac intensive care units. It’s also helpful for sites that implant their VAD.
